About Peter Fortune

Peter was raised in a single parent family on a council estate in South East London.  He attended Bishop Thomas Grant school in Streatham, leaving at 15 to start work in regional press.  His mother, who works for the NHS, still lives on the estate Peter grew up on.

Alongside working in newspapers Peter has had a variety of interesting jobs.  He was an electrician’s mate on sites across London, acted in theatre and toured Europe in Macbeth with the American Drama Group.  He was also very proud to serve the ranks with the Royal Yeomanry, part of the Royal Armoured Corps.

For the past ten years Peter has worked in Learning and Development helping both adults and children with issues such as diversity, sexual health, strategy and business management.  He now runs his own consultancy business.

Politically, Peter has experience serving as a councillor and Deputy Leader of a Council.  He has a special focus on Housing, Education, Children's Social Care and Health.  He was the Parliamentary Candidate for Lewisham East in the 2015 and snap 2017 elections.

He is married to a primary school teacher and has two young children who will not get ready for school on time.
