80 percent of households in Bromley and Biggin Hill have at least one car or van, and Labour’s plans threaten to tax motorists for every mile they travel.
Last year I asked the then Secretary of State for Transport about the plan commissioned by Sadiq Khan to introduce pay per mile charging in London, this Government denied any such plan existed. And yet Labour have now announced the introduction of the new mileage-based charge on electric cars.
By introducing this policy, they have opened the doors for Sadiq Khan to put his own scheme into motion whereby drivers would be charged £2 per mile plus a £5 fee per day in central London, 60p per mile in inner London, and 40p per mile in outer London.
