Bromley and Biggin Hill MP Peter Fortune said: "Several people have contacted me recently regarding wrongful fines for stopping on the access road next to Bromley South rail station.
"I raised this issue with the Metropolitan Police, who own the road and instructed Britannia Parking to enforce the double yellow lines outside Bromley Police Station. They made this decision due to the congestion caused by drivers making rail station pick-ups and drop-offs that delayed and blocked police vehicles leaving the station. It's not within Bromley Council's responsibilities as it's a privately owned road.
"However, some drivers have been wrongfully fined for stopping on the road when entering the Waitrose. Britannia Parking has installed a new camera to prevent this confusion in the future. I encourage drivers who were wrongfully fined to appeal any penalty charge notices they may have received directly from them.
"I look forward to meeting Network Rail and Southeastern soon to discuss access at Bromley South rail station."
