Bromley and Biggin Hill MP Peter Fortune has today written to the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service, Sir Mark Rowley, objecting to the overnight front counter closure at Bromley Police Station.
Following the announcement, Peter Fortune MP said: "I'm deeply disappointed that the Mayor of London's police cuts will impact services at Bromley Police Station.
"Initially, the Metropolitan Police Service planned to protect Bromley's Police Station while others shut. Now, they've announced that the front counter will close overnight, at 10 pm on weeknights and 7 pm on the weekend.
"This is short-sighted. While in-person crime reports at night may be low, it's often vulnerable people looking for a safe haven. Given the size of Bromley's town centre and nightlife, reducing hours at Bromley Police Station is a mistake."
